SAY WHAAAAAAT?//

After months of user testing in a number of countries, social media giant Facebook have launched new News Feed feature ‘Reactions’ and are rolling it out worldwide today.

SO, WHAT IS IT?//

Facebook Reactions is an extension of the ‘like’ function that we all know and love. It allows users to extend the ‘like’ gesture to include: ‘Love’, ‘Haha’, ‘Yay’, ‘Wow’, ‘Sad’ & ‘Angry’. Each ‘reaction’ is conveyed using an animated icon as shown above.

HOW TO USE IT//

On a smartphone or tablet, press & hold/ on a desktop or laptop just hover over the ‘like’ button & you can choose your ‘reaction’ !  Piece of cake, eh? It certainly isn’t rocket surgery !

The change will be automatic on desktop and laptop computers, but on handheld smart devices or tablets, you will have to download an update of the Facebook App.

WHY?//

The most obvious of all reasons is that not every post on Facebook is necessarily ‘likeable’ – so with this in mind Mark Zuckerberg decided just over a year ago that users needed a way of differentiating their ‘reactions’ to posts whilst removing the need to ‘comment’ on the post thread every time. This level of effort over something seemingly so small may seem crazy to the majority of us, but when taking in to account the fact that 90% of Facebook’s 1.44 billion average monthly users access the app via mobile it kind of starts to make a bit more sense. Users needed a way to leave feedback quickly & easily and it seems that the above animated ‘Emoji’ were the way the cookie crumbled.

THE CHALLENGE//

Line One Distributors are Europe’s leading Jet Ski parts & spares specialist – and have been since the 1970’s.  However, with eager trend-setting competitors on the scene, Line One found themselves fast out-dated visually and approached us with the view of re-establishing their leadership & placing themselves firmly back on top. First and foremost, our attention turned towards their identity & we completely re-defined their brand, focusing on the ‘extreme’. Their new identity is bold, eye-catching and oozes stature. Having completed the first phase of the project, we then moved on to their online presence.

OUR SOLUTION//

We developed a comprehensive, content-managed, responsive e-commerce website including a database of around 500 products, integrated with secure payment gateways & styled with brand consistency.

THE IMPACT//

Line One Distributors now have full control over their online shop front, meaning things like stock regulation & buying processes are much easier on the front & back-ends. Usability has improved exponentially which has in turn simplified the shopping experience, allowing users to find & purchase products without confusion and this coupled with the integration of secure payment gateways provides 100% user confidence.

First and foremost, our attention turned towards their identity. We picked apart their company image, going right the way back to the start of it all – and produced a modern, dynamic, strong identity with longevity & bucket loads of confidence, whilst keeping that ‘Line One’ feel.

Line One Distributors are completely re-defined, focusing on the ‘extreme’. Their identity is bold, eye-catching and oozes stature.

With new brand strategy, Line One Distributors are now armed with everything they need to move on to the next phase of the process – starting with a comprehensive, content-managed, responsive e-commerce website and, most important of all, Line One Distributors remain Europe’s No.1 and aren’t budging an inch.

THE CLIENT//

Armstrong Fitness are a UK based fitness company providing high end personal fitness training, generic & bespoke fitness programs and nutrition plans within the health & fitness industry. They work with hundreds of clients, to achieve their individual goals, be that sporting achievement, injury rehab or general health and fitness.

THE CHALLENGE//

Having developed a new 12 week personal fitness program aimed at both males & females, Armstrong Fitness required assistance in correctly placing themselves and their products within their market place, online & offline.

OUR SOLUTION//

We analysed their competitors, paying close attention to what’s working in today’s health & fitness industry in the UK and abroad & came up with a fantastic new identity full of energy and dynamism. We took in to consideration how colour alters perceptions, mood & motivation & included a vibrant, premium colour pallet to run throughout.

With Armstrong Fitness’ strong new identity, we developed change across the brand including a content managed, e-commerce website, a comprehensive 12-week ‘focused’ fitness program design (for print & web) & a 56 page ‘focused’ exercise instructions booklet to run alongside the program. We coordinated a photoshoot to include on-brand photography throughout & provided art direction to ensure consistency.

We also sourced industry standard protein shakers from Germany & production for output at a competitive price point, branded t-shirts & the exploration of other merchandise & branded equipment for the future.

Armstrong Fitness are correctly placed within their market place, with style. They now stand up against the giants and have a strong footing to compliment their extensive knowledge and top-quality, premium service.

They have strict brand guidelines to follow & this coupled with their modern fully content managed site allows full control over direction & growth and ensures brand consistency.
